Here are the current categories:

1. Company Achievement in Innovation
   Companies who demonstrate extraordinary levels of substantial ongoing innovative activity are encouraged to nominate in this category. Company innovation may be in product design, development approaches, marketing, sales, or other business activities.


2. Most Innovative Software Idea
   Companies and individuals who have provided innovative ideas that have helped drive the software industry forward are urged to seek this Award. These innovative ideas, methodologies and approaches may be expressed in books, through websites, seminars, or other publications. The idea must be novel and have substantial current and future impact on the software industry.


3. Most Innovative Service/Business Model
   Companies and individuals who have conceived, developed and launched innovative software services and/or used innovative business models to provide a service are encouraged to nominate in this category. Included in this category are new approaches to delivering web content.


4. Most Innovative Software for the Software Industry
   Companies providing software products and tools that help software companies run their businesses are urged to apply for this award. Licensing solutions, testing tools, version control software, tools that track software defects and enhancements, software design and development environments, web development tools, and other similar software are all in this category.


5. Most Innovative Enterprise Software
   Companies providing software products, utilities and tools that help enterprises run their applications and enterprises more efficiently and profitably are urged to seek this award. Examples of software in this category includes software platforms, libraries, frameworks, components, database engines, data tools, workflow and integration, change and configuration management, SOA, ESB, EIS, process optimization, and other similar software.


6. Most Innovative Small and Medium-Sized Infrastructure Software
   Companies providing software that helps small and medium sized businesses run their applications and businesses more efficiently and profitably are urged to seek this award.


7. Most Innovative General Business Software
   Companies providing general business applications are encouraged to submit their products for nomination in this category. Examples would be email control software, collaboration tools, project management solutions, etc.


8. Most Innovative Vertical Industry Software
   Companies providing business applications to specific industry verticals may seek this award.

SoftwareCEO/CompTIA, at its sole discretion, may revise these categories or decide to award multiple or no winners in any given category.
