General criteria for the awards include:
- Scope of the innovation — What business problem/opportunity
does the innovation address, and what is the size of the problem/opportunity?
- Impact of the innovation on software or the software industry — What
practical results (sales, users, profits, etc.) has the innovation had on a software product
or the software industry? The innovation must be new and have both a current and future
impact.
- Novelty — How does the innovation break with traditional ideas or
processes?
To be eligible for the Awards, products/services must have been launched by March 31, 2009.
Products/services still in beta testing on March 31 are not eligible. Nominees may not require
non-disclosure agreements for the judging of their products/services.
Prior year nominees, finalists and award winners may submit the same nomination in following
years.
Products, ideas, companies, and services may be nominated. Listed below are some examples of
what may be nominated:
- Innovative software products
- Innovative software delivered as a service
- Companies that demonstrate substantial ongoing innovation
- Books, templates, or other forms of conveying innovative ideas to the software industry
- Innovative approaches to delivering software or content (e.g., concept of blogs or wikis)
Nominated products/ideas/services need not fit into the pre-defined
award categories. SoftwareCEO reserves the right to change the award categories
and/or award multiple winners within an award category.
